Artist's Comments

"She begins with tiny spoons and screws. Swallows safety pins and penny nails by the dozen. Paperclips, thumbtacks, saltshaker tops. The doctors say it's dire, prescribe lithium and fresh air. Her mother cries and brings cake. Last week, they pulled a watch from her stomach, still ticking. Wrapped her tight in white, wet sheets until her skin grew soft, amphibious. Every morning is clear and bright. Every morning she spits dimes into the sink. Her nightgowns, drafty, ravaged by openings. After all, a girl has too many holes as it is. Things are bound to fall through once in a while."

part of Our lady Anemia
KRISTY BOWEN

This is my last public attemp of portrait "Anemia". As many of you know i had serious anemia that now is controled ( and i hope it keeps that way ), and i had the urge to portrait it a few months ago.

This poem was found on the web, and then i searched for the autor, she seems to be also the owner of "Wicked Alice" a poetry ezine if i didn't read wrong , i really like what she wrote and how the girl has the need to eat everything metalic she found, i interpret that has a need for iron...i was in the same situation but i only had to take pills ;P

I hope you like it, is a bit dark but she is really special. I also mixed photoshop and painter to make her look really different and i seem to love this style so maybe will keep it :).

Please watch the small details, like her scar!

I love her! She goes perfectly with the poem, as well!

I got sick a while back, and my parents feared I had anemia. Thankfully, I do not.

I am glad that yours is controlled, though! I hope it stays that way! We can't have you feeling bad!
